Rama XV Dam is the first irrigation dike of Thailand. Built in the reign of King Rama VI, this dike blocks Pa Sak River to detain water for agricultural purposes. It’s original name was Phra Thien Racha Dam but the name was changed to Rama VI dam. This dam is under the management by Royal Irrigation Department, and serves for the water management of Pa Sak River and Raphiphat Canal, with a big watergate to block Pa Sak River and a small side watergate named Phra Narai Watergate to direct water into Raphiphat Canal. On the bank by the dike, there are restaurants to sell foods and drinks.

The ridge of Rama VI Dam is small. A car can run on it but in one way only. Thus, there must be a break for the cars from the opposite direction to use the way as well. Royal Irrigation Department opens the door to allow vehicles to pass through the ridge from 03:00 to 21:00 hrs.

In addition, near Rama VI Dam, there are many significant places such as Satue Temple which has a Big Sleeping Buddha built by His Royal Highness Somdet Phraphuthachan (To Phromrangsi), the   Former Royal Patriarch, to commemorate that His Royal Highness was born in this sub-district, and Kai Chae Temple with Luang Pho Laelai  Buddha Image.

Traveling Tip: Rama V is located in Village 10, Tha Luang Sub-district, Tha Ruea District, Ayutthaya Province.
