In this past, this gigantic fort was equipped with artilleries to fight enemies, but nowadays, it is just a ruin. Pom Phet is the only one that still remains, from all the 29 forts in the past.
It is believed that Pom Phet was built in the reign of King Maha Chakraphat on a strategically significant location because it is the area where Pa Sak River meets Chao Phraya River. In addition, this area was the port and a significant trading hub where people of different nationalities were residing.
Nowadays, the area of Pom Phet has been developed to be a public park where everyone can set by the river. Some parts of Pom Phet have also been restored in order that it can sustain its shape as a fort.
