This old abandoned temple is an archaic site that is a ruin surrounded by households. Its unique component that attracts visitors is an arch that is densely covered with temple trees, which look beautiful and dignified until it is called the ‘Gate of Time’.
Like the cases of many other temples in Ayutthaya, there is no evidence to show when this temple was built; but it is believed to be built since the early phase of Ayutthaya Era because the layout of the temple is the one that was popular in that era. In addition, the main hall behind the main hall shows the trace of the construction of a newer pagoda to replace the original one that is smaller. Since the fall of Ayutthaya, Wat Phra Ngam has been abandoned.
Visitors who would like to visit Wat Phra Ngam must select the coordinates of Wat Phra Ngam (Phra Ngam Temple) in Khlong Sa Bua Sub-district or Si Pho Temple because there is another Phra Ngam Temple in Ban Pom Sub-district, which is a temple with monks residing inside.
Location: Khlong Sa Bua Sub-district, outside the city island to the north, near Si Pho Temple
