This temple is one of the most visited temples of Ayutthaya. Even though looking new, this old temple is believed to have been built even before the founding of Ayutthaya. The neighborhood in which this temple is located had been the area where the Chinese lived for a long period of time.
Most Thai and Chinese-Thai people visit Wat Phanan Choeng in order to worship Phra Phuttha Trairatana Nayok or Luang Pho To Buddha Image, or, in Chinese, Sam Po Kong Buddha Image, which is the biggest Buddha image in Ayutthaya. The width of the lap of the Buddha image is 20 meters and the height of the Buddha image is 19 meters. This Buddha image is enshrined in the pantheon of the temple. The locals always come to worship Luang Pho To Buddha Image and offer robes to the Buddha image until there is a rite to put the robe on the Buddha image, which is an identity of Wat Phanan Choeng,
Apart from Luang Pho To, one should not miss the chance to go into the main hall to worship three Buddha images, namely, the golden Buddha image, the plaster Buddha image and the copper alloy Buddha image, all of which are as beautiful and divine as Luang Pho To Buddha Image.
In the temple compound, there are also shrines of Soi Dok Mak Goddess, Guan Yin Goddess (Goddess of Mercy) and all the sacred stuff in Hindu and Chinese beliefs for people to worship. Since the temple is by Pa Sak River, people come to feed fish or release fish, which are merit making activities.
