This ancient Thai style house reflects the features of Thai architecture. The name ‘Khum Lhun Phaen (House of Khun Phaen)’ has no objetiveto remind visitors of Khun Phaen who is a leading character in a Thai literature entitled ‘Khun Chang Khun Phaen’. Rather, the name aims to let visitors understand that this house is an ancient Thai style house.

Khun Phaen house is the imitation of a house of a rich family. In the compound of the house, there are many small and big houses that reflect the traditional wisdoms concerning the construction of a house. For instances, the pillars of the house must be leaning inwards lest the houses collapse during a flood, the ground floor of a house is an open area for keeping all the appliances, the layout of the compound set allow wind and air to flow through all the houses without any blockage whilst the houses are placed to avoid direct contacts with sunlight, and the high gables and slopes of the roofs that allow rainwater to drop fast in order to prevent retention of water in the roof and to prevent hot air from going down into the houses.

In addition to the aforementioned wisdoms, this house is a perfect place for visitors who love taking photos of themselves in an old and traditional ambience of Ayutthaya.
