May 2, 2022Many people overlook Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Center because of its name as a ‘graft center’; however, this center has more than the exhibition of crafts, the demonstration of craft manufacture or the center to develop craftsmanship. This is because this craft center has other activities for all family members to enjoy.
This craft center was established in accordance with the idea of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, and was officially opened in A.D. 1984, with the objective to train local people on Thai arts and crafts so that they can generate additional revenues and conserve Thai arts.
At present, the center has more than 30 departments such as basketry department, porcelain department, leather department, wood furniture department, royal court doll department, glass blowing department, carving department, embroidery department and weaving department. Visitors can visit any of these departments as they wish everyday except Mondays, from 09:00 to 16:00.
Other interesting parts of Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Center are as follows.

Visitors have to pay admission fees of 20 baht for an adult and 10 baht for a child. The Bird Garden is open everyday except Mondays from 09:00 to 17:00.
- The Aquarium for visitors to see local fresh water fishes, small ones and big ones, as well as an exhibition about environment and water resources. This aquarium charges no admission fee and is opened from 10:00 to 16:00. It is closed every Monday.
- The Folk Arts and Crafts Village which is a group of Thai houses to demonstrate the traditional lives of Thai people in all regions and to show local arts and crafts of all regions of Thailand. No admission fee is charged, and the village is opened from 08:30 to 17:00 everyday.
- Phra Ming Khwan Pavilion is the main building of the center, the ground floor of which is the place to sell products. On floors 2 and 3 visitors can see the exhibitions about art crafts in various fields, divided into 5 compartments. No admission fee is charged. The exhibitions are opened everyday, from 09:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and from 09:00 to 18:00 on holidays.
In addition, Bang Sai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Center is located by Chao Phraya River, and thus has a space that is set as a park for visitors to sit and chill out. This place will tempt everyone to spend his entire day inside.
