Wat Chaiwatthanaram is a temple built during the reign of King Prasat Thong in 2173. Originally, the site of this temple used to be the residence of the royal mother who had died before King Prasat Thong took the throne as king.

When he had consumed the throne He therefore built the Chaiwatthanaram Temple in order to dedicate this merit to His Majesty the King. And another, this temple may have been built to commemorate the victory over Khmer. Thus resulting in an architectural style, partly from Angkor Wat
