Even though there is no evidence to point out when, or during the reign of which king, this temple was built, this temple is significant. There are also indications that this temple is the only on around Ayutthaya City that was not destroyed during the fall of Ayutthaya because it was used as the command pose of Myanmar troop.

Inside the main hall of the temple, there is a tremendously beautiful Buddha image in kingship costume called Phra Phuttha Nimit Wichi Man Moli Si Sanphetchaya Borom Trailokanat, which may be built or restored in the reign of King Prasat Thong. This Buddha image is one of the most beautiful Buddha images of Ayutthaya.

In addition, there are any other ancient Buddha images such as Luang Pho Khao, which is a Buddha image in demon subduing posture, plated with pure silver, housed in the pantheon behind the main hall. Also, in Wihan Noi (the Minor Pantheon), there is a Khanthararat Buddha Image, which is a stone Buddha image in Dvaravadi art style, which is believed to be one of the last 6 Khanthararat Buddha Images around the world.

Beside the main hall, there are old stupas (small pagodas) in a roll. One stupa of the three has the top that is covered with roots of a temple tree (Bhodi tree) like the ruin at Maha That Temple. This stupa is an interesting aspect of the temple.
